Los Angeles–For Linkin Park fans that remember that distant nostalgic memory from March 2nd 2002 the band, originating from Agoura Hills, California, visited Mexico City and performed alongside Korn, would be happy to hear that the nu metal group plans to return to Mexico City at the end of the year.
“I visited Mexico many times, but just for vacation. With the band we only came once and you have no idea how badly we want to return,” says Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, bass player of LP.
“We don’t have anything definite yet, but yes there’s great potential in the idea of returning. I’d say the end of this year or the beginning of the following year, we’ll be there.”
Their intention to return to Mexico City has been driven by the countless number of Mexican followers they have on Twitter and Facebook, that keep asking them to return.
“We fondly remember that concert with Korn in Foro Sol.
It was incredible. The people were so passionate, regardless of us being a new band, and since then we’ve had contact with our fans on social networks, where a big part are Mexican and they want us to return,” adds Brad Delson, guitarist and one of the founders of Linkin Park.
If this were to become a reality, the group would come back promoting the new album, LIVING THINGS, which will be released worldwide on June 26th, 2012.
This show will be based on the artwork, which shows a man with snow detaching from his body and showing his burnt skin with wounds.
“We have a very creative team that worked on the album artwork, one of which was Mike Shinoda himself, (founder of the band). They worked with the latest tools and the results were a mixture of themes that interested us to put on the album,” explains Delson.
Some of those points that encompass the album, which is made of 12 songs, are based on human relations (of friendship, social relationship, and sentiments) and the essence of people.
“Everything that we are applying to this album visually we are working on translating to our live shows. The people that work on the art are almost the same as those that work on the stage design, the still images that will be seen on the album artwork will be brought to life in the shows. This is something new for us and this will make the LIVING THINGS experience be more three-dimensional,” adds Farrell.
To give a small preview of their fifth album, “Phoenix”, Mike, Brad, Joe Hahn (DJ), Rob Bourdon (drums), and Chester Bennington (vocals) are offering a tour in the US with Incubus and Mutemath starting on August 11th.
Evolution alongside the internet
Although they’ve always been aware of the latest technology, the internet has always been a tool that has worked for the members of Linkin Park, they consider the internet more as a tool than harmful for the music industry, it’s one of the greatest things that could have happen to them.
“The internet gives you the opportunity to do many things, it permits you as a musician to be more creative and take risks and for us that’s something very interesting, it’s something that didn’t really exist,” says Phoenix
“Selling CDs is practically dead, but the business of making music is more than alive thanks to the internet; because the fans take an active role in the process of creating music”
